How Falcon Eye Is Enhancing Nigeria’s Maritime Border Security

How Falcon Eye Is Fortifying Nigeria’s Maritime Domain Against Criminal Threats

Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Navy has once again brought national attention to the game-changing role of the Falcon Eye Surveillance System, a project built and maintained by RTcom under the direction of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). In a recent interview with The Guardian Nigeria, naval officials detailed how the system continues to serve as a cornerstone in the fight against sea crimes and illegal exploitation of Nigeria’s waters.

The article emphasizes the day-to-day operational value of Falcon Eye ,a project that offers full-spectrum real-time situational awareness across Nigeria’s vast coastline and exclusive economic zone (EEZ). With advanced integration of coastal radar, AIS, satellite imagery, and EO/IR sensors, Falcon Eye equips the Navy with timely intelligence to detect, track, and intercept vessels involved in oil theft, illegal fishing, and smuggling operations.

Rear Admiral Zakariyya Muhammad, Director of Naval Information, explained that “The system has significantly boosted maritime domain awareness and has been instrumental in several high-profile arrests and seizures.”

Falcon Eye has transformed how maritime security is approached in Nigeria. It is not only a surveillance system, but a command-and-control ecosystem linking Naval Headquarters, regional commands, and frontline patrol assets. This has enhanced coordination, reduced response time, and drastically lowered the number of successful criminal incursions.

From its inception to its current operational phase, RTcom has served as the technological backbone behind Falcon Eye delivering design, integration, and now ongoing maintenance and technical support. The company remains committed to ensuring the system evolves in line with Nigeria’s security needs.
