NSA Monguno Praises Falcon Eye as Critical Asset in Niger Delta Crisis Response
Abuja, Nigeria – As Nigeria intensifies efforts to address insecurity and oil theft in the Niger Delta, former National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno praised the Falcon Eye Surveillance System as a key element in the federal government’s strategy.
Speaking at a ministerial press briefing during his tenure, Monguno commended the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Nigerian Navy for deploying Falcon Eye, describing it as a “force multiplier” for real-time maritime monitoring, intelligence gathering, and rapid response. He stated:
“With Falcon Eye, we are able to track illegal maritime activity and respond in real time. It has saved the nation billions in lost revenue.”
The Falcon Eye system integrates coastal radar, satellite AIS, electro-optical cameras, and a centralized command-and-control infrastructure. It provides seamless surveillance across Nigeria’s coastal waters and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), supporting operations against piracy, smuggling, and illegal crude oil activities.
As the federal government continues its multi-agency approach to securing the Niger Delta, Falcon Eye remains Nigeria’s only fully operational, real-time maritime surveillance network. It plays a central role in restoring stability, increasing national revenue, and countering maritime crime.
