NSA Commends Falcon Eye During Strategic Inspection Visit to Surveillance Sites

May 2024 Visit Underscores National Commitment to Maritime Security and System Sustainability

In May 2024, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA) conducted a high-level inspection visit to several Falcon Eye coastal surveillance sites, reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to maritime security and system sustainability.

The visit included live demonstrations of Falcon Eye’s radar and electro-optical capabilities, showcasing the system’s ability to detect, track, and analyze vessel movement in real time across Nigeria’s vast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

Accompanied by Rear Admiral Olusegun Ferreira, Chief of Training and Operations of the Nigerian Navy, and Rear Admiral Victor Dabess Choji, Director of Maritime Domain Awareness, the NSA was reportedly highly impressed by the system’s coverage, integration, and performance. He acknowledged the critical role Falcon Eye plays in national security, especially in curbing piracy, oil theft, and smuggling.

During the briefing, the NSA noted the technical complexity and logistical demands of maintaining a high-availability system like Falcon Eye and commended the Nigerian Navy and technical partners for their professionalism and dedication.

Leading the visit from RTcom’s side was Ido Shalev, Chief Operating Officer, who provided insights into the system’s operational capabilities and maintenance requirements.

The NSA emphasized the importance of continued investment, operational support, and capacity-building to ensure the system remains fully functional and evolves with Nigeria’s growing maritime challenges.

The visit reinforces Falcon Eye’s status as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s security architecture and highlights the strategic cooperation between national agencies and the Nigerian Navy in protecting the country’s blue economy.
